FLDS Raid - A Dangerous Precedent

Joel Skousen has this to say in regard to the raid on the FLDS people in El Dorado:
But this should not deter the nation from realizing the danger of the tenuous legal proposition that mere membership in a group (that may have isolated examples of marrying underage girls) makes all unworthy of possessing any children at all--ever. That is wrong, especially when legal remedies exist to prosecute specific wrongdoers.
Even if you don't like or agree with the lifestyle of the FLDS, it is important to understand that the tactics being employed by the state of Texas are wrong and may someday be used against any group in America (whether polygamist or not).

One of the scary things about this action in Texas is the fact that they do not have to prove any ciminality. Since CPS actions are of a civil sort, they can play this game of "we believe this is what was going on ...or we believe that is what they are teaching" Since when does a government agency have the right to say "we believe this 6 month old girl may be abused in twelve years, so we are taking her away from her (loving)home"? Does CPS now have the right to tell us how we teach religion to our children? If this is allowed to stand CPS will have the say in the way we raise ALL our children, not just the FLDS children.

That seems to be the point, beegood. To dictate how and what is appropriate through 'peeping toms' and 'big brother' looking through all our key holes. The government has become so consumed with micro-managing the people that it has forgotten that it was born 'of the people, by the people'. A fact that the rest of us needs to remember. I think it's time to reclaim our government!

I just cannot beleive how Texas has been able to armstrong this case through the system and not allow any kind of counter action. I really hope that Parker is going to be able to get some kind of control over what is happening.

I also was listening to KSL radio this afternoon when they reported on a FLDS "teenager" giving birth today. They failed to mention that she was eighteen.
